The only reason I know about this game is because I watched Vargskeletor's videos about the game and I decided to research about it and I regret researching

The first versions of the game looked alright, it was simple yet the objective was clear, make a horror game inspired by Signal Simulator (the game mogs them by el way). The game felt more like a survival horror game rather than the whatever survive the floating orb and the developer's fyetish "cozy" job simulator gender affirming edition but with aliens. Hell, the only thing that has a good design in the game in a horror aspect is the mutilated pig that was resurrected via alien technology. A problem the game has is that it favours "easter eggs" and "miscellaneous stuff" (aka snca that doesn't do anything) rather than the whole horror aspect the game has.

The list of problems this game has could make this paragraph long, but in short, the game lacks of horror and favours the "funny" things due the developer not being able to recreate what signal simulator did (Joel was more scared playing a cheap alien game with no ambience than playing VotV).

The combat in general needs to be reworked or improved on. It currently sucks ultra nigger dick, partly because the enemies suck ass. Imo with the current direction of the game, combat is completely unnecessary. The abandoned kerfur, firetank, tech pig thing all suck ass to fight. The good enemies are the ones you have to run from or avoid, like the yellow wisps and large robots.

Some things are better than dd:da but some are considerably worse, I wouldn't call it a bad game, some people got a hate boner for it on release due to the retarded dlc policy but all the dlc is useless
I'd say start with dragons dogma:dark arisen first, but if the old graphics put you off so much there is nothing wrong with starting with dd2, but be prepared the story is shit and more like an afterthought
