Ragnarok dropped the requirement for PSN a while back, which is the reason I didn't pick it up when it first came out on PC. If you can afford it I highly recommend it; it also has the roguelite-styled mode in the Valhalla DLC so it actually has a fair bit of replayability in that regard.

And yeah the Valkyrie fights were cool as shit, Ragnarok has a similar set of superboss-esque enemies as well.

Games install sizes being fucking huge means you can't install many games at the same time which is kinda customer lock. Blizzard, Ubisoft and Bethesda do it on purpose to keep NPCs in their micro transaction pits.

Storage has gotten cheaper, at least in Burgerland, as I'm able to get 4TB M.2 SSD storage for like $210 USD now. However, it's still very annoying that we've made all these improvements to technology, only for them to be reduced to nothing due to lazy game developers. Most people aren't the type to spend hundreds of dollars on storage for their favorite vidya and often they aren't the type to stop paying for the shitty games, so what actually happens is that, as you said, the NPCs just play the same few games. Not surprised at this in the slightest, but it is a little unfortunate. I mostly play older games anyways, so it won't affect me very much, but I still notice frens who much more often play newer games lacking storage if they don't uninstall titles.

People mention how SSD storage prices have gone down, but games are becoming less optimized over time because that makes them cheaper to produce. You might be sitting happy with your PCIe 4.0 drive right now, but when they start making games for PCIe 5.0 and 6.0 more standardized, you won't be doing sop well on your loading times. And file sizes will keep increasing as well. Eventually, we're going to start playing the physically impossible catchup game with every component, not just GPUs. They're already getting away with charging $450+ for 8 core CPUs.

If Bluray discs are cheap enough, I will unironically just start burning GOG and Pirated games onto those, although I feel like it is likely cheaper to just buy M.2 storage by that point unless I were to distribute these games to my friends as well, so they could play without even purchasing a copy of whatever game it is (in such case, it would be some of the few physical bootlegs still around for PC titles, and in the first-world no-less).

when i had a psvita i was addicted to spelunky hd. also played a lot of shovel knight, patapon, binding of isaac, meatboy (ev&do the vita port didnt have the original soundtrack which is EXTREMELY locked), VVVVVV, guacamelee, and a few others. also, i wasnt into it back then but i got into the persona series recently and i know there are some psp ports of those game so maybe try that if you like jrpgs. oh yeah, also salt and sanctuary, and the first two borderlands games.

On 3D i really enjoy Adventure 1 and 2. Heroes is very annoying overall. Shadow i think it was very good. Haven't played 06 or the Wii ones. Unleashed i prefer the ps2 version better than the barely functional ps3 release. Generations was very fun the first time but with time i realized how automatic it is and classic sonic was bad from the beginning. Lost World was very boring, that attempt at imitating mario (muh x-treme). Forces i did not enjoy it the first time but i replayed it twice and enjoyed it much more. Frontiers was fun but not very well made, but it is the way forward if they can fix the pop-in and make exploring the maps more interesting. Shadow Generations was also very fun although the controls are terrible.
