If it releases before GTA, they'll get initial sales, but I imagine the DLC sales will suffer if they release too close to GTA6. They could do something like release the game in June or July, then release small and cheap DLC 2 months before GTA6 comes out, then intentionally have a break until January to release more DLC, but Project Aces is pretty perfectionist so I don't think rushing it would be the best idea. Even Bamco understands that this is is a very big moment for Ace Combat. 7 showed there was legitimate consumer interest in a proper series entry, and 8 is where the numbers will show what kind of resources Ace Combat should receive.
As a fan that doesn't care about GTA degeneracy at all, pushing all the AC8 hype to next year would be a little disappointing, but probably for the better of the series in the long run.
