Thoughts on sonic adventure 2?
I think it's more than the sum of it's parts. Isolating elements of gameplay for individual criticism shows most are flimsy and don't really work. However i would be lying if i say i don't have fun when playing it.
Every 2 or 3 years i get obsessed with it and play it to completion, then play it some more for A ranks.
Sonic and Shadow stages are good overall with the main exception being Final Chase.
Knuckles and Rouge could be better if they were scored under different criteria instead of using the time and rings of Sonic and Shadow, as you don't know how to beat the stage from the beginning like on those, so scoring time is a mistake.
Tails and Eggman can be fun although i don't think a single Tails stage is good or even fun. My main complain on these is that losing all your rings when hit is too harsh a punishment for a design where you are going to get hit almost inevitably.

I must’ve replayed the speed stages in this and SA1 for over a dozen hours in high school. Sonic games were my crack back then. Unfortunately they just don’t hit anymore, either because I’m too good at them or they’re kids games. I can’t really tell.

The adventure series had a lot of potential to be good the problem was giving the series a story with voice acting and different gameplay styles i just want it to be sonic's gameplay where you can play any character in any stage like the old games but here you can't and the other gameplays suck because they slow down the experience of a sonic game where the whole point is to go fast that's why they turn down Sonic-16 for being too slow in 1995 and the story is just so dumb why does a game about saving animals need this much lore shadow the hedgehog is just a lame version of metal sonic where metal was cool cause it represent this game's message of bad use of technology where shadow was just made for emo people that turned into trannies.

I don’t mind cutscenes and voice acting but it shouldn’t take resources away from the game design itself. I’d take more levels and better mechanics over a story. It’s retarded that so many Sonic fans care about the lore now. Sonic is a platforming series and I would be fine with Colors/Gens-tier storytelling paired with fantastic gameplay. Sadly I feel like I’m in the minority.

I get this sometimes, I'll just be staring at my steam library for minutes not particularly feeling like playing anything. I've found that just starting whatever I drift towards/whatever I was playing most recently works.
If you want to do anything in TWW3 I'd recommend chaos dwarfs, probably the best designed faction in the game.

I bought the custom shell from aliexpress, but I only saw ones for PSP1000/3000 on offer. If you buy any custom shell, get a scalpel and sanding paper too since they never fit perfectly

Any game with a budget that huge and a massive marketing campaign only maxing out at 88k players is embarrassing enough on its own. You'd think they were expecting 300k-500k during release week and 30k-70k players now. Less than 5k active players is probably barely enough to float the servers and a skeleton crew. The retards who still play this had better not have any hope of the game getting big updates next year, this just isn't financially worth it.
