is it just me or is fallout 1 feel disconnected from 2 and new vegas? i.e. necropolis should be like ghoul 9/11 but nobody hardly talks about it. you deal with all of the criminals in the boneyard and canonically "the followers take control" yet it's still treated like a detroit shithole. junktown, despite being a vital trade partner of shady sands/NCR, is never mentioned again.

The Folllowers always have been sort of wimpy and dependant on the player… I imagine that all the VD did was leave a power vacuum that eventually got filled by outsider gangs as time passed and the NCR never bothered to try and "colonize" it, so it went back to being like usual.

Caeser’s Legion is probably the largest “nation” in terms of surface area, encompassing all of New Mexico and Arizona, most of Colorado and parts of Southern Utah.

NCR takes the overwhelming majority of California, except the North part and San Francisco Bay Area. A little bit of Northwestern Nevada, up to New Reno and Vault City, which is, debatably, under their control, and the northern half of Baja California.

The third largest would be the Midwestern Brotherhood of Steel from Tactics, if you consider them canon, which I do. They control territory from Chicago, Illinois, all the way to Colorado , but I am sure that they would have been forced out of Colorado by The Legion.

ITT we discuss the meaning behind classic Rain World game (without any DLCs)
I have this SNCA theory:

Player is restricted to weak slugcat's body in a hard cruel world on purpose to show how bodies and physical needs limit one's true capabilities. Despite having human intelligence you can't really apply it in-game and have to be careful with what you do, learn everything from scratch. Slugcat's main goal is to leave its body and endless reincarnation cycle which is equal to winning the game.
This can be applied to our world and humans in general. We have great mental potential but can't easily transfer creations of our mind into reality. And if you die or ACK then you'll just be reincarnated in another body. However there are no documented reliable methods of getting rid of this cycle. Ev&doe I could have hallucinated it all geg.
Rain world would be more realistic if you get reborn as other slugcat upon death and had to do it all from the start. Doe that's practically unbeatable difficulty. (You)r thoughts on this?

TL:DR it's about physical limitations of one's body restricting the true mental potential, the difficulty of transcending it and that it's applicable to humans.
