I think many historical settings are more uncs in general, especially if it's glorifying the times like those old long movies with their epics but I genuinely think cowboy/westerns and epics about the ancient world (Egypt, GrecoRoman etc) has a broad appeal to everyone, especially older people, certainly all men.

The Anglo epics in the British Empire are a lot more dry and boring, genuinely even being made with similar actors, studios etc are always less action packed than their non britbong equivalents

So of the 20th centuries epics pick the ones about britbongs in Africa or Asia colonising, you need to be a real white egghead to put up with that

Martin Scorsese did a Dark Comedy called Afterhours. it has all kind of people in it like Cheech and Chong and both the Home Alone parents are in it (Cathy O'Hara and John Heard)
Its about a Data Entry worker (shit I did for several years) Name Paul Hackett. he's not appriciated. One night he meets this woman in a cafe and she invites him to buy some paper weights off of her SoHo NYC artist friend but he just wants to hook up with her. so when he gets home she invites him over.
He spends all night trying to leave and get back home when something weirds him out about the Woman he liked.
I literally feel my entire life is like this. Like i'm trying to go somewhere or need to just GET THE FUCK OUT OF DODGE

anyone seen it? it's a bit date (80s movie) but it's surreal and kind of cool.

80s (after Punk and Classic Rock, MoTown) was Post Punk which had a sub genres of Gothic, Dark Wave, No Wave, New Wave, Hipster Disco, early forms of grunge and House.

then Rap and Hip Hop dominated in the Mid 90s-2000s. at least in the states.
I can't even listen to contemporary music these days. I understand Post Punk and Goth is still a thing in Latin American countries but I dont live in Shitty 3rd World

The Damn and Gang of Four were great until the mid 1980s and turned to 80s Pop shit
though now those songs still sound better than anything produced today. I love a Man in a Uniform caused so many fans to cringe with its Newwave sound. yet somehow listening to it and comparing it to any of the thousands of shit "New rock" coming out would be an instant hit. Shadow of Love is one examply (The Damn)

They actually had public recording booths which they would let people pay to record their own music and a lot of it got produced because it was cheap to do so.
so a lot of mid level music was created. people who made decent music before the 29 crash were also making songs for 5 bucks a song for hollywood. after WWII Prosperity hit America like it never had before. maybe only surpassed with the mid 10s with the dot com boom. Peaking around 2016.
