>>145009where did pepple even get the idea they were portraying him as a villain? i didnt get that feeling at all. yes his character is a little exaggerated in some parts but so is everyone elses, its an impressionist take on the story behind TCAP instead of a straight shooting biopic. i actually thought they portrayed him in a very sympathetic and human light, instead of just the persona he plays on TV you get a deeper understanding of his motivations and reasoning behind why he does what he does, both good and bad.
if anything, i feel like the NBC executives themselves are the real villains because if they didnt push him in a primetime slot and tell him he needed to find "bigger and better" predators to boost ratings, the show would've ran way longer than it originally did and we probably would've seen a way higher conviction rate.
not that chris (and by extension the rest of his cast) were completely innocent, but i didnt see him as an "egomaniac god-complex villian" like lots of people are saying, more so a man who got shaken up by his previous investigations into child trafficking rings and feels an obligation to shine a light on the "ancient evil" of predators (the fact that his family life was falling apart at the same time definitely didnt help either). he wasnt a villain or a hero, he was a man just like you and me, who did a great thing for both good and bad reasons.
