just got done watching that new Avatar movie somebaldi at Paramount accidentally sent to a random email
it has some of the prettiest animation and best fight choreography ive seen in a while, but the overall pacing feels rushed and some plot elements and characters were underdeveloped (how the fuck did the non-bender terrorists get a map (which is NEVER shown on screen) to the MacGuffin Staff? Where did this so-called map even come from and why did a map even exist in the first place when Avatar Sonam NEVER wanted the staff to be found? Didn't the non-bender terrorists at least have the slightest hint that only the Avatar can access the staff but tried to kill Aang anyways? Are they stupid???)
also I ended up predicting the twist that OH NO!! THE AIRBENDER THOUSANDS OF YEARS OLDER THAN AANG IS LE HECKIN' AIR NAZI THAT HATES MULTICULTURALISM?!?!??! way before it happened
7/10 not bad but really could've benefitted from at least 30 more minutes of runtime. either way, its a major improvement over literally everything that came after the original show (two shitty live-actions and The Legend of Whorra disaster, the Avatar that royally fucked the world and every future Avatar all because she wanted to munch some carpet)

Yaga was 99% right, not on the empure shit but on the palingenesis of the Airbenders, Yaga understands his people are dying, getting replaced by the other benders, and the only course of action is ethnonationalism through the spiritual power of the Staff. In some sense this movie is about cultural preservation versus ethnic preservation, when Aang wins the culture of his ancestors are preserved for years but his ethnicity not, in a sense Yaga is progressive as he understands the culture of peace is weak and the preservation is far more important than the foreign. Aang is very much dogmatic and stuck to a culture that is weak and will inevitably die out due to it. Also I thought of the Moriori when watching this movie becausse of the whole death of a race shit.

Edelweiss genuinely invokes a different kind of feeling in me. The album covers, the vocals, the instruments, my heart skips a beat when I hear it. It's like getting a glimpse into another world, taken into beautiful scenery of nature, staring into an empty road at dusk, looking at colossal mountains from a distance. I don't know if it's the memories I've had with these songs or just the way it sounds but to me it's the most special band I've ever heard.
