please please me over revolver?
revolver keeps the tight 60s style songwriting with much more contemporary production and interesting arrangements/instrumentation
i personally think sgt. pepper and after leans a bit too far into the effects and self importance over the songs themselves but revolver keeps the focus pretty balanced — infact i would say it has some of their best written songs in general, regardless of how "groundbreaking" they were for the time
please please me on the other hand leans too much into covers, and i find the material they cover pretty simple and repetitive
the originals are pretty ok
with the beatles is way more consistent though
