I was a complete retard in early highschool and i was obsessed with shipping characters. Not only that, we were allowed to hear one sentence of Isayama describing the ending, where he said it was about "surpassing the father." None of that happened. Even earlier, he described what he called the "Original Ending" and the "Mist Ending", saying he couldn't decide which he was going to go with. Then, a couple years before the final chapter, he said he watched some shitty ass Marvel movie and it inspired him to make the ending like that. I'm fucking serious.
