Modern dubs are made by the same media conglomerate in California which has like 40 or so total ""voice actors"" who record most of their lines in a single take
Admittedly I'm not the biggest fan of the ADV dub (for more personal reasons) but the Netflix dub is a truly ear-raping experience and when comparing the two you can see how much the VAs cared about their characters respectively (in the Netflix dub Ritsuko's VA doesn't even pronounce her own name right most of the time)
