It's not about Azumanga specifically, rather OP simply used Azumanga as an example of something from that time period: the post could've used the original Hellsing or another anime close in time to Azumanga or even Cowboy Bebop (was still considered new in ~02 and was extremely popular) – although not just any anime as some are more evocative of the time in which they were new and others less so (one cause for that is when an anime kept going or had sequels unlike animes made once then left alone) – but that pic of Ayumu and her song have a melancholic tinge and Ayumu herself very much so (she has a melancholic - and reflective - side to her), and the song is called TIME Pavement, and Azumanga is especially evocative of the time when it was new, so that video is fitting for reminiscing about times that can't come back; a distant childhood that slipped away, like tears in the rain. Such a time period can of course be longer ago for some, but OP almost certainly means ~00 to ~03 or ~99 to ~04; something like that; close in time to when Azumanga was new and before the nuanime era had begun in earnest. The Times referred to absolutely can't come back as far as Anime goes because Anime as a whole – including people's whole concept of and expectations of Anime – was radically different in the previous era (right up to its very end) versus what later it became, and was ruled by an entirely different Zeitgeist. And it's similar to how the Times of gaming back in the late 90s (or earlier for that matter) can never come back and never feel the same even if one plays the original games on original hardware on a CRT as one has become older and they aren't new anymore; walking into a game store and buying a brand new PSX game when there wasn't yet in gaming magazines even any talk of next-gen consoles like the PS2 and Dreamcast and getting home and opening it and putting the disc in your PSX and starting the game for the first time can never be recreated. Likewise now watching animes from before the nuanime era, does not and can never again feel quite the same as watching them back then. In such ways the Times can't come back. And even with a DeLorean you wouldn't be able to return to re-experience those Times the same way you first experienced them, as you're older and have other memorie
