>My nephew is enrolled in a private school that is located inside a gated “community” often called a “subdivision”; hence, his parents, along with the parents of other students in that school, must apply for a homeowner’s association sticker that must be renewed every year, even if they do not even own a house or a lot in the subdivision, a condition for enrollment to the school. As a result, the subdivision’s main road becomes congested with the cars the parents drive to fetch their kids every afternoon.
The subdivision, by the way, is completely inaccessible by most forms of public transportation, including the Philippines’ jeepneys, although there are private “school service” (shuttle) buses or vans that drive several students from different parts of the town to the school and back. This situation, hopefully, could eventually change when it moves to a bigger campus along the highway.
