Hello guys, we're gonna take a break from tenor for a second in this thread because I had the idea to run a soycraft geopol and wanted to ask you for your thoughts.
This would entail running the server for 1-2 months (basically until everybody gets bored). Currently, soycraft averages around 10-20 people tops. This is primarily because the initial influx of people got bored after a month, as soycraft had no end goal whatsoever & there was other mismanagement that I won't get into. Either way, the sharty geopol would be surfing on that initial 100 player count for its entire lifetime.
The sharty geopol would be running
https://nodes.soy on a premade map. Currently nodes is the plugin of preference for every single major geopol server, as towny fell out of use due to its shit war mechanics. You can read more about the plugin on the website but trust me, it's really good. If you're not familiar with geopolitical servers, they revolve around groups of players choosing nations to larp as and fight other nations. You're able to capture the bases of other nations if you win against them in wars. For our purposes the nations & map could either be IRL historical shit, sharty related or fictional whatever, I don't really care myself and this can be decided later. Examples of geopols are intcraft and crusalis.
I'm familiar with a bunch of people who run geopol servers so for the sharty geopol I could get us a really nice map, gun plugins, maybe even vehicles etc. basically top of the line shit. It'd be way into the future though. What I want to know is if there's interest from you guys in a competitive server with an actual end goal.
Also I may or may not allow some ex-/dem/ guys to play and set up their own nations depending on the consensus.

Right now I'm working to get us a map of Europe. We definitely won't be able to fill all the nations on it so I'll prolly do some merging, unless you guys want to make your own soylarp factions instead of real historical stuff. What do you think?

Nodes lets you have passive income for example which is very nice. I'll also limit gear to something like iron armor & no enchants diamond tools max (with craftable efficiency 5 silk touch stuff) so that people actually fight instead of being worried about losing gear that took them hours to grind for. If I can figure out how to get vehicles to work we will have these as a resource sink for those who insist.

Thing is the server will revolve around conflict and I don't want people losing expensive gear in it after dying just one time. Wars on most geopols are die -> get a new kit -> die -> get a new kit and so on and so on until either of the factions runs out of gear. People also do raids in peacetime so yeah.
It's not like the gear will be pathetic cheap either. It's still gonna suck if you lose it, just not as much as if you lost full enchants netheriteslop.

We're going to have factories, which would be necessary to craft high-end weapons and vehicles. They won't require you to have in-depth sperg-level knowledge of obscure mechanics tho. You'd build something resembling one of the 3 or so types of factories and they'd then be manually reviewed by the jannies based on size and aesthetics, and assigned a tier where a higher tier means it processes resources faster. How these factories work is you put resources inside them with a command, then they shit out processed materials to your town's income, really simple stuff.

An update on recent progress: I've set up the nodes plugin and am going to be painting territories now. Next will come setting up the remaining plugins, including XC which'll be our weapons plugin. I already have some good models and configs ready (stolen) so it shouldn't be too difficult.
It'll be a map of Europe, I'll send you a picture as soon as it's ready.
