Its similar to groundhogs day, but its about a detective that has to bust a criminal and his organisation, similar to al capone. It's set in either the late 1800's-early 1920's, in an unspecified European country.
The MC has to crack the case to break the loop, but along the way, falls in love with a woman that keeps getting killed out of retaliation. He meets her during multiple points of the story, and each time, she's infatuated with him. Its hinted that he lives his life over and over with her.
He eventually feels confident enough to crack the case and also win her love, plus keep her alive. But because he spent so much time planning and executing, he leaves it too late and she eventually married someone else, without ever knowing of his existence.
