this was the right thinking and it came from the gemmiest era of the sharty for a reason. I'm the one who took that screenshot originally I know what the fuck I'm talking about
back then the admins were keyed and would listen to the userbase and delete shit that made our clitty leak too hard so we didn't have to worry about furtroons literally owning the site. if 2023 doll remained admin we wouldn't have had any of these problems, literally the moment the userbase complained about shit it would've been gone. 'teens saw the problems in 2023 when froot first became admin, complained, and froot went "geg just don't reply to the bait you stupid nusois" then encouraged people to bait harder. THAT'S what lead to this. every janny since has had that fucking mindset. "stop bitching about the furry porn on /soy/ it's just bait bro", "stupid nusois I won't delete the soytan bbc threads stop leaking this is sharty culture" "geg you clitty leaking HTSMs stop calling everything EPI it's just furry fart porn are you 12 years old or something, let me make the site 18+ to justify it".
we went from the kuz era banning fucking troonjaks because the userbase were complaining about them becoming overused, or doll banning 'zellig in response to soyvil war 3, to quote literally letting jannies ERP with namefags in furry porn discord servers and telling the userbase that they're just clitty leaking over bait when they demand that this shit stop.
the problem was never the userbase or our attitudes, it was the admins. we developed those attitudes when we had a site that would NATURALLY prevent this shit from happening, we had admins that micromanaged the site to ensure that NOTHING like this could occur. at the time, we were hopeful, we thought doll (I think kuz had stepped down at that point) would literally be our moot and we'd have him as admin for like a decade, 'teens would throw ideas around about holding irl soy conventions and shit and doll would entertain them and said he would fund them if he ever had a chance. we literally thought nothing was beyond our reach. but then the soypocalypse happened, we got faggot hiroyuki-esque admins that don't give a fuck about the site or listen to the userbase, and this is the result.
every word of that post was correct. gatekeeping is retarded and doesn't work, all it does is hold the site down and ensure that it remains stagnant. calling someone a "newfag", or, in our case, "nusoi", doesn't help the site, it simply gives literal NIGGERS the opportunity to LARP as old users and make new users feel bad for not accepting their furry diaper gemmies, like how 4cuck will call users who don't like loli newfags and that's their culture now. or alternatively, it prevents new culture from developing, like how some 4cucks will unjokly leak if you say "picrel" because according to le archiverinos nobody said that pre-2013. we understood that then, terms like "newGOD" were created as protection for the site, to help prevent people from subverting the site in the way they did, because if someone came in shitting on new users, we'd know they were just LARPing as old users, right? and even if somehow we had gotten a massive influx of new users from 4cuck that might fall victim to this type of thinking, surely our dearest dolly doo would always be there to make sure the site culture couldn't get raped in this manner, right? surely he'd implement wordfilters, like "newfag" to "newGOD" or "anon" to "chud", micromanage the site. surely the old culture would still be strongly in tact and new users would naturally be able to adopt it through exposure, reading the 'ki, and the userbase guiding them, and those who didn't conform would be banned for making our clitties leak.
I remember replying to that very post about how, unlike 4cuck, our site could never rot, because our newGOD worshipping culture and our very active admin would be sure to help keep the culture alive, the site rapidly growing, and OC flowing.
but we were never prepared for someone like (((froot))) to take power, who seemed to barely understand the site, who thought bait was le good, who embraced cultures that were antithetical to our own. and especially, we never, EVER expected someone like ((((((((quote)))))))) to be admin. someone who communicates about as fucking much as hiro, who has his jannies moderate the site totally robotically like hiro, who doesn't give a fuck about the site like hiro, who is literally just fucking british hiro. he even offloads the site's admin position to literal who jannies that ALSO never talk the way hiro offloads his job to rapeape. oh, and jannies only talk on IRC despite a /q/ board existing for meta discussion, another hiro parallel.

but, I fully believe, with a competent admin, none of this shit would've happened. the site would be in its golden age. we could gain 100k new users a day and still maintain all the basic aspects of our culture.
I like to think that if quote fucking kills xerself and gets replaced with a proper admin, the site can make a comeback. soot was a pretty shitty absent admin too, yet the site's gemerald age arose after he fucked off. but if this site is truly fucked, then to all future splinter owners: YOU are the most important aspect of your site. YOU have full control over the culture, the ruleset, the moderation style, and the content that's posted. if YOU are absent or incompetent, this is what happens to YOUR site, it becomes a fucking shithole. YOU have to micromanage every aspect of the site, pay attention, handle issues as they arise, and think deeply about the consequences of YOUR decisions, because one retarded rule change or even post from YOU can cause a butterfly effect leading to permanent damage to the site's culture, that only YOU can reverse. never forget the responsibility that YOU hold.
