One of the most obscure pieces of imageboard culture lore that somehow stayed under the radar is that sneed is actually very likely a reference to a real store and person, and the 1987 Chuck v. Purina case. Chuck's Feed and Seed fought a legal battle against Ralston Purina Company, a farming supplies manufacturer.

Chuck's Feed and Seed store was owned by Charles Ray Chuck Lambert of Summerville, SC, who died 2006.

There are multiple people named Robert D Sneed in Summerville, South Carolina and one of them may have taken over Chuck's store around the time the Simpsons episode aired.
Not many people know about this, and I think someone should add it to the 'ki. It'd also be neat if we could find more information to confirm that a man who's last name is sneed became the owner of the store.
