Even though people like to attach a connotation to it that implies doing something genuinely fruitful, hobbies are just things you tend to do for enjoyment in your spare time. That doesn't mean all ways of spending your time for the purpose of enjoyment are necessarily good uses of your time (e.g. snorting cocaine), and it especially doesn't mean that all hobbies are equal. But videogames are definitely a hobby.
