The idea that gender equality must extend to the legal system suggests that female offenders should face the same sentencing and social consequences as their male counterparts.

A significant double standard exists where society often sexualizes or trivializes female-on-male abuse, using dismissive or "joking" language that minimizes the severity of the crime. This cultural tendency to treat such cases as a fantasy rather than a violation directly contributes to a climate where male victims are not believed or taken seriously.

While I do agree with the crux of your statement, that wider society tends to trivialize and poke fun at male victims of domestic abuse, I disagree that with the point that females should be subject to the same criminal sentencing as males in such cases.
<Serious space
There is a stark divide in any criminal court, that of the Judge and the Jury. It is the Judge's responsibility to establish the facts of the case and to present it to the Jury, who then deliberate on the guiltiness of the Defendant. If the Defendant is found guilty it is up to the Judge to decide on severity of the sentence.
<Serious space
Societal bias in a criminal court is almost always found in the Jury, who may be more likely to dismiss criminal action against a female victim due to general sympathy or dismissing the experience of the (Male) victim. Judge's giving lesser sentences to female offenders is simply due to the certain facts of a case, i.e. while female domestic abusers can cause serious harm to their victims, generally male offenders can cause much more harm than their female counterparts due to biology. Therefore, Judge's will usually give harsher sentences to Males compared to Females for domestic abuse cases
