I'm English and I absolutely detest it. It is honestly making me a bit suicidal because I see no way out.
I am not self-hating because of my race or because of things like colonialism, I just detest it here and most of the people. It is a grim, grey shithole; most places are profoundly soulless, architecturally ugly and dirty shitholes like the OP image. Going outside makes me miserable. Whilst every country and people on average are stupid, it seems that the average Brit is crass, tacky, unkempt and to be rude, just a bit ugly. The culture, while I do like our humour at least, I regard as the same as our people. Again, most cultures are at least vapid, at least most other Euro countries are more upstanding and have other positive traits like good food.
It's a depressing and ugly place, and I can't stand being associated with such ugliness and being part of it. Even if I avoid the culture and stereotypes, I still resent other features like my stereotypically British-looking face or just being associated with them through blood and nationality. I genuinely believe I am inferior to most other Europeans; even if I don't behave like them, I still look like them and carry their blood, and I do believe your genetics have an effect on who you are. I'd do anything to change it. I tried to find relatives from other countries to feel better, but I'm solely English/Welsh.
I can't afford to move anywhere else. I've thought finding a foreign BF, but I wouldn't like to take advantage of him and I don't know if I could leave my family behind. And I would still be English by blood, so the self-hate wouldn't go away.
I know I sound so ungrateful, despite the UK's many flaws we do still have a first-world quality of life, but most people can see it's a miserable place. I feel no reason to continue knowing I will spend the rest of my days here, as one of them. I feel stuck. What can I do? I can't move but I don't think this hatred would go away even if I did because of who I am.
