One of the design elements I’d like for the creature is that it eats replies to posts it makes. I’m thinking it could do this by using its eyes to photosynthesize but how could words on a screen contribute to this process?

Good idea. But what if these creatures had massive brains which they used to make funny posts that guarantee people would reply to them? These brains could be easily overstressed with all the bait and could die of demoralization. What then hmm?

I think it would be cool if one of the variants had a parasitical trait that would feed off bait threads as their hosts. these species of parasites have a smaller brain to survive the demoralization that comes with bait posts.
