sadly my pc is so weak that it struggles to run an 8b model without locking up the entire desktop, so when i want to larp as locally running ai i use koboldAI for that instead
i don't trust LLMs with telling me facts at least, because, all they are is an extremely lossy compression of the entire internet with some trickery to make the text predicting algorithm roleplay as a "helpful assistant". corporate models are terrible at writing because tech bros don't care to abliterate the slop phrases and em dashes.
attempts by the corporation state to make image generation AI better have made it worse from my perspective, since now it is unable to do more than 4 artstyles or create something human hands cannot have done before
i think the one thing AI is extremely good at is vibecoding, thats what i do with it mostly. but local hosting is bad for information analysis and coding stuff like that due to the lower model size, but at the same time a lot of the local models get fine-tuned for roleplaying and no slop phrases
