Real and complex analysis are both around the same difficulty (unless you somehow think abstracting to complex numbers is a jump in skill) and both to be presented to math majors for their first 4 years. Functional analysis is what you do after those, and Banach space theory is probably the end conclusion of that branch of math, difficulty wise.
