To be fair, he shouldn't be paying ANY of the 4chan staff or volunteers a single cent. Their "work" is objectively bad and makes the website worse. If anything, he should unironically be filing real lawsuits against 4chan's staff for allowing illegal marketing practices and making the entire place a porn website, which violates the legal terms of service for users of SFW boards. He'd win in a heartbeat, too.

He does work with the US government, which is why the illegal activity on 4chan is permitted. They pay for the hosting, but he is allowed to skim off the top. 4chan is unfortunately paid for with US taxpayer dollars, and he does pull a bit of money from the website.
