Sorry for an obvious whine, but i had to vent it out somewhere, I went to guitar service center to check if they have a specific screws for my pick ups as one bolt was broken and what i experienced left me shocked. So i go there and hand over the guitar and I have white paper stickers on frets 1,3,5,7,9,12 and so on to cover the default dots, because I am half blind due to my T1 diabetes which ive had since i was 11 and i dont see the dots and this is great reference point for me and they started laughing in my face that I have cute little stickers that kids use for school.

They asked if I need a guitar set up, i said no I set it up myself I just need the spare parts for the pick ups and they started laughing again "so you set up guitars yourself and then apply the stickers yeah"

Like i know i am no pro but considering i have been playing for 9 months and never had a teacher and never had any guitar lessons and learned everything by myself i dont think i am that bad to be laughed at by some random douches, because i adapt my playing due to my special needs. I said that i am half blind and i dont see these dots on the neck so i use my own which helps to navigate faster on the fretboard, i grabbed my guitar and said bye i am gonna ask somewhere else and they stopped for a moment and replied "oh…okay" and I left.

This was such a hit under the belt i dont even know why, it discouraged and demotivated me so much, like seriously screw them, i wanted to complain to the manager but i just wanted to get the hell out quickly and leave that place and never go there again.

What are your thoughts on this? is it that rare that someone has perosnalized frets? Like is this a joke in guitar community or what?

what are you trying to learn
if you're serious about it then you should learn to read standard notation instead of tabphono, i might be able to point you towards some good resources depending what you are interested in

my general advice if you're serious about learning would be to get a good classical method book, there are like 10 decent ones out there that mostly all cover the same shit, noad, shearer, cornerstone method, bradford werner, christopher parkening method, aguado method, sor method, etc, they all break shit down to the most basic possible components, but reading music is a core skill that they all use that lets you work from any of them, if you're into bluesslop or rock/metal then idk but this would still be a better plan than 99% of people who play those genres ever use
