How do you feel about the term Degenerate?

Recently, I was having a discussion with someone concerning the topic of Youth Liberation. I was told that I, as a Youth Liberation activist need to be careful because *there are a lot of degenerates in the YL movement*. I strongly disagree with this sentiment, simply because I reject the popular belief that youth liberation is a moral slippery slope and I don't like the term degenerate.

Most leftists seem to be increasingly against ableist language yet it seems like a pass is given for the term Degenerate even though it is inherently mean-spirited and used to describe literally anyone who an individual sees as psychologically, physically, anatomically, or biologically flawed.

I've been called a Degenerate several times.

So my question is, what do Anarchists think of the term Degenerate should it be used? Are there instances in which its use is justified?
