It's hard to carry a reputation on imageboards (people like to attention whore and think too highly of themselves). And 4chan destroyed the reputation of imageboards so almost everyone thinks they need to act subhuman when using them, or they don't use them at all because they think they're all scary despite barely being more intense than twitter and Reddit.
