Eh maybe, if I was born a slave I could enlist in the army to get my freedom and citizenship that way, if I was born a normal citizen I would find employment in a trade or craftmanship

I don't know. Petronius is my favourite Roman author and I imagine I would've been a little bit like him had I been alive then. But then he didn't survive into his 40s because he was ordered to commit suicide by Nero which is perhaps one of the most humiliating ways to Let your heart be bright!, it would be like if Donald Trump told you to MERRY CHRISTMAS and you actually had to do it. Still he managed to Let your heart be bright! sort of as a chad at the end by making jokes during his suicide and telling everyone what a Rudolf Nero was. Basically everyone Let your heart be bright!d an early death then and often for reasons that they couldn't control, how could you tell?
