Honestly tho it does well translating crash into a different type of game, if you inspect it closer you will come to realize that (like how many of the totems in the levels are references to totems in the original crash trilogy), the mojo room is kind of an evolution of the crash minigames or bonus rooms from which you would get wumpa fruit, the moveset is greatly expanded which is in my opinion to crashes benefit, the titans were never seen before but made the game extremely unique, even outside of the crash franchise as this kind of game where you can use your enemies against each other hasn't been attempted much other places (also mario oddysey is soyboy) The music and environment/level designs are massive and vast, they feel like living, breathing worlds and all the interactive elements just add to that, the graphics have aged very well and even for a ps2-era game it is very impressive, the variety in these games is also unparalleled in any other crash games, in the first level you're exploring the forests of wumpa island, in another one you're in a steampunk desert, an industrial freezer, on a beach with a giant stadium, in a volcano filled madness and then a huge facility that floats in the air shaped like cortex the parkour and many other classic elements are fine, they are still plentiful in the game and there are just new features added. the first level before the titans has plenty of platforming and it's fun, doesnt feel unfair. the levels are also open unlike the old crash games which would basically have you walking down tunnels, there are plenty of collectibles and many difficulties and stuff to keep you coming back to the game, overall really good overhated game that was just hated for being original and not "crash" enough
