i ran away once when i was 13 because i was going through psychosis and i got scared and handed myself into the police station about two hours out of my city. they tried to call the landline (no cell reception at my house) and no one would pick up up. they drove me home and that was the first time i saw my dad cry and it broke me. he regretted never picking up the phone and from there on out i got taken seriously and cared for like i had always wished. i was hurt and mentally ill. i went to the hospital and nothing came of it really i just went back home after the mental health team evaluated me and i guess since i didn’t cut myself they just sent me home. i was still young and an idiot and i would argue with my parents when they put restrictions on me since i ran away but it showed that they cared. i regret how i treated them during that time and the hurt i caused but in the end thats how they started talking me seriously
