Just get a chisel, the upgraded mining gear and a decent pickaxe and start drilling around the limits of the evil biome spread
For prehardmode, you can place mom corruptible blocks like clay or wood on the limits of the evil biome, sunflowers to cripple further spread, and some checkup on the stone blocks close to the limits to make sure nothing gets contaminated later. It's kind of easy actually
