I transheart gta 4 but the missions were pretty repetitive. I blame the lack of checkpoints. Im not asking for checkpoints every 5 minutes like in gta 5, but it's blatantly obvious that a lack of checkpoints hindered any chance of the missions having more to them

that was the biggest problem with san andreas; you would have these long and fun missions but if you died towards the end, you'd have to fucking reload a save and drive allllll the way back to do it again.
you can tell that rockstar knew this about gta 4, which is why, in the DLCs, the missions had more to them and were riskier because they actually had 1-2 checkpoints
