"Vietnam is an utterly stunning destination. No matter where you visit, the scenery will be unlike anything else you've ever witnessed."
1. Hanoi
Hanoi
In Northern Vietnam, Hanoi provides some of the best attractions, including Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature and Hoan Kiem Lake. The capital city makes my list as one of the best holiday destinations in Vietnam because of its lively atmosphere; bikes and scooters zoom along the busy roads, food stall vendors serve up steaming hot meals to tantalise your taste buds and locals inhabit the upper floors of the crumbling and dilapidated colonial buildings.
It’s a real culture shock.
During my time here, I explored the railway of Hanoi on a wonderful walking tour. Being able to discover the real life of the city behind the main sights was a fantastic opportunity. You begin by experiencing its local market, stopping to appreciate the slow life along the narrow streets hosting the rails. Then enjoy the area's iconic drink, egg-coffee, before ending with a short train ride.
On top of this, meet local artists making masks and carving stamps on a Hanoi Street Artists half day trip. From having your sketch taken in the Old Quarter to meeting a talented 'Tò He' artisan at a local cafe, this experience is a great addition to your Hanoi adventures.
