>June 1st, 2026: My first day of true unemployment. I woke up and had cereal for breakfast plus coffee before getting dressed. I got my backpack packed to take the bus all the way to the credit union I have my money at to deposit two checks. I got there and walked in, putting my backpack on a table near the entrance. I had my old work folder to store the checks, I deposited $2150 into my savings at 9:17am before heading back to the bus stop and taking it to my school’s library, which was still open, I got on my computer and worked on applying to two jobs on the 3rd floor, the only people there was this employee at the desk and janitors. I first applied to a Job out in Sussex, Wisconsin as it was closer and next the more distant DevOps thing. For the referral, I was required to list the email and phone of Torvalds, I then shot him a message on Discord at 10:47am to lead to a renewed conversation:

>I went back home for ramen with an egg for lunch. James the Greater was working on cleaning out dishes of his to take home as he was moving out next month. He asked me if I was free this week or next week and I said yes. I hadn’t told James I was laid off yet. I then gamed more and wrote in my blog. It was longer than I had been usually making as I was unemployed now. I played some Roblox and also Holdfast until it became 4:00pm, as the landlady arrived to do a video filming of the apartment for some people out of town. I left to take a walk around the greenery and it took like 10 minutes. I got back and then dressed me up in my dress pants, Billy London blazer, Ralph Lauren white button-up, with a cyan tie to top it off. I got on the bus at 5:09pm and rode it a bit as I tried to read from my pocket Bible. I got off at the same time 2 older Black bus drivers were getting and on and one of them said:

>I thanked him then went to the church. I tried getting in the usual way but I couldn't get the door open. I waited and then met this guy whom I will be calling Teddy, because of his mustache and he talked a bit about the monthly event. I made a joke to a woman working at the church that we were Latter Day Saints missionaries. We were let in and I prayed the rosary before mass near the front. I noticed 1 altarboy training the other on what to do. I prayed for whatever I saw when I was doing the rosary with the others, I looked at a pillar and prayed for stonemasons around the world to help with building less ugly buildings, seeing the engraving of Saint Paul and praying for writers around the world, Saint Peter provoked a prayer for leaders in clerical office, etc. Then the actual mass started with the older French priest not giving a homily during it. I was the frontmost person so I had no guide on when to stand or sit. I messed up where to kneel at the communion rail. I went out to talk with Anders, Teddy, and a few other guys. Speaking of guys, there were many more guys than girls here, as theology is a slightly masculine field of study. I finally met the older French priest and shook his hand. He told me he’s from southwestern France and I said I’ve been to the church before. We did a group prayer for the food, which was pizzas, tacos, brandy old fashions, and cookie cake. I was kind of light on my load and helped move chairs into the living room which was opened into the library. There were some other familiar faces there like Anders and Teddy as I mentioned before, but also Loid and Yor. The whole place was very decorated and classical, being very old money. At the start of the talk, we found out how long the priest has been here and that he was ordained since 1992. I got added to a Signal groupchat for the event. The topic was June as the sacred heart of Jesus month. I had some of the old fashioned and loved the talk, the priest knew what he was doing. I moved my seat closer and I remember him stating that talking to the guy or girl you fancy is an act of mercy as a good joke. The talk started at 7:30pm and lasted roughly an hour. For the questions and answers section, I asked about the rise of the Sacred Heart of Jesus month tradition rising as a response to pride month. The older French priest told us after Vatican II, the processions went away and thus pride parades took their place. As we got out, the other French priest’s ordination anniversary would be for our next month’s meeting. The older French priest brought out jello bits for us to finish off and also the old fashioned that I made for myself with like half the brandy it usually has. Talking outside I discovered the Older French priest knows Cliffe and Clyde from their evangelization efforts, a roommate of Cliffe’s talked about discerning out of the priesthood for it’s super strict lifestyle. I left and took the bus back home before taking a shower and going to sleep.
