Yuri "Kuz" Kuznetsov, founder of the Kolyma Network and owner of soyjak.party between July 2022 and May 2023, was fatally wounded by an FPV drone in eastern Ukraine while fighting for Russia. Ukrainian-released footage from the drone depicts Kuznetsov alone sitting on a railroad track moments before the fatal encounter. He is seen in the video looking at the drone and putting up no resistance, apparently giving up and accepting his fate.
Kuznetsov has a complicated and highly controversial legacy as the former owner of the popular soyjak imageboard. This incident and many similar ones on the front in Ukraine highlight the brutal nature of the war, with many arguing that such executions of surrendering soldiers count as a war crime.
