This Tuesday afternoon, it was announced that Vincent Walter Zampella II has tragically been killed in an automobile accident on SoCal's Angeles Crest Highway just north of Los Angeles. According to police investigators, his Ferrari sports car veered off the road into a concrete barrier and caught fire, instantly killing Zampella and one passenger.
Zampella was best known for being the co-founder and head of the video game studio Infinity Ward, which would go on to be the founder and major producer of Call of Duty, the 3rd best-selling video game franchise in the world. In 2010, Zampella co-founded and became head of Respawn Entertainment, the studio behind the Titanfall series, Star Wars Jedi, and Apex Legends. In 2013, he became the CEO of Electronic Arts' Ripple Effect Studios, producer of the Battlefield, Command & Conquer, and Medal of Honor franchises.
He was 55 years old.
