Beatrice Picard—the beloved voice behind Quebec's local version of Marge Simpson—died at age 96, her family announced.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our mother, Beatrice, which occurred this morning, December 9th, at the age of 96,” her family wrote via Facebook on December 9.

Picard passed peacefully in her sleep, her family explained.

The voice actress had a storied career that spanned more than seven decades.

Born Marie Therese Beatrice Picard on July 3, 1929, she rose to fame as Angelina Desmarais in Le survenant—one of Quebec’s earliest tele-romans.

She spent more than 33 years bringing the beloved personality of Marge Simpson to French speakers in Canada. She walked away from the role after 33 seasons in January 2023.

Fans flooded social media with tributes to the late star.

"We often get the impression that some people are eternal, so much a part of our daily lives, and we wonder how they would cope if they were us. We came to know humanity through the characters she chose to portray. Thank you to her children for sharing their mother with those who didn't have one. Now that the curtain has fallen, she will not be forgotten," one fan wrote.

"I remember her crowning as Miss Television; back then, they used to crown the Queen in a magnificent TV show," another reminisced.

"We have just lost a (truly) great lady of our Francophone culture. One of the last sacred monsters of the theatre," a third commented.
