Yesterday it has been announced that one of Japan's premier racehorses, Gentildonna, has passed away at the age of 16. At this time, no cause of death has been disclosed.
Throughout her 2011-2014 racing career she won seven Group 1 races and two Japan Cups back-to-back in 2012 and 2013. Additonally, she is the fourth mare to win the Fillies' Triple Tiara and earned over 2.5 billion yen.
After her career, she was inducted into the JRA Hall of Fame in 2016 and added as a character to the popular anime gacha mobile game Umamusume: Pretty Derby in 2024.
