Following a complaint filed by the Association of Spanish Muslims Against Islamophobia the Provincial Court of Málaga has accused Ballester of hate speech and he faces up to 3 years in prison. A public advocacy law firm has gathered over 28,000 signatures demanding the charges be dropped. The case has spread debate all over Europe about freedom of speech.
