So like I know Americans or at least on the movies go to sleep the 24th and wake up the next day to find the presents beneath the tree, however down here we do it differently so I was curious if it also differed somewhere else.

Down here we just stay partying/dinning until midnight, then the hugs and 'merry Christmas' come between each family member, and then we open the presents. When I was a kiddo I remember they told us at like 23:55 to go for a lap/walk so Santa could come to the house and deliver the presents marked as 'from Santa', while the presents from one family member to another were already by the tree; nowadays they all are already there
