Down here it aint too bad but the public transportation, specially the metro can be a toss up in loudness
The newer line got quieter trains and they're pretty much, while the old ones still kicking can be quite loud.
Add to that that you can either get
A) a silent ride
B) some moron starting singing and playing music thinking the rest of the people wanna hear em
C) sellers who walk throughout the cars selling stuff and being loud
D) get trapped on the metro with football enthusiasts who act like monkeys
When I was on Europe the metro there was pretty good, once on Prague there was some sort of football match or hockey match and the Europeans were pretty civilized
