time to cleanse the palate for today and bring you folks some real sports instead of the same ol' shit that ain't ever gonna change.
I'm playing a full season of SimLeague Hockey (NHL) on WhatIfSports for the first time, and decided to use a lineup of the Edmonton Oilers from NHL Hockey '92 (only on the Sega Genesis) by Electronic Arts.
this Edmonton Oilers lineup will be composed of:
> Line 1: Mark Messier (C), Esa Tikkanen (LW), Joe Murphy (RW)
> Line 2: Ken Linseman (C), Petr Klima (RW/LW), Glenn Anderson (RW)
> Line 3: Craig MacTavish (C), Craig Simpson (LW), Kelly Buchberger (RW)
> Line 4: Adam Graves (C), Martin Gelinas (LW), Dave Brown (RW)
> Defense Pair 1: Steve Smith (LD), Charlie Huddy (RD)
> Defense Pair 2: Geoff Smith (LD), Chris Joseph (RD)
> Defense Pair 3: Kevin Lowe (LD), Jeff Beukeboom (RD)
> Goalies: Bill Ranford (starter), Grant Fuhr (backup)
> Extras/Healthy Scratch (Press Box): Anatoli Semenov (C), Norm Maciver (D), Craig Muni (D)
> PP Line 1: Mark Messier (C), Craig Simpson (LW), Glenn Anderson (RW)
> PP Line 2: Craig MacTavish (C), Martin Gelinas (LW), Joe Murphy (RW)
> PP Pair 1: Steve Smith (LD), Charlie Huddy (RD)
> PP Pair 2: Chris Joseph (LD), Kevin Lowe (RD)
> SH Line 1: Petr Klima (Left Forward), Craig MacTavish (Right Forward)
> SH Line 2: Adam Graves (Left Forward), Ken Linseman (Right Forward)
> 4-on-4 OT [Overtime] Line: Mark Messier (Left Forward), Esa Tikkanen (Right Forward)
in other words, i'm gonna get this very last Edmonton Oilers team from their 1980s championship dynasty days one last run at championship glory. because after the 1991 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Edmonton gradually gave away all their key players except for Buchberger.

Martin Gelinas will move up to the third line with Craig MacTavish and Kelly Buchberger. Semenov is on the 4th line with Adam Graves and Dave Brown.

1 win, 49 losses
the losing ways still continue, but at least 4 goals were scored by the EA 92 Edmonton Oilers.
Martin Gelinas and Esa Tikkanen each scored one goal, while Kelly Buchberger scored twice.
Dave Brown and Kevin Lowe assisted on Gelinas' goal.
Mark Messier and K-Lowe assisted on Tikkanen's goal.
Gelinas assisted on Buchberger's standard tip-in goal of Gelinas' missed slapshot.
Adam Graves assisted on Buchberger's second goal.
btw, Grant Fuhr got pulled for Bill Ranford.
after 50 games, my point producers for the EA 92 Edmonton Oilers are:
> Esa Tikkanen (LW): 12G/2A/14P
> Mark Messier (C): 7G/7A/14P
> Martin Gelinas (LW): 8G/5A/13P
> Glenn Anderson (RW): 5G/8A/13P
> Kevin Lowe (D): 3G/10A/13P
> Joe Murphy (RW): 2G/10A/12P
> Petr Klima (RW/LW): 6G/4A/10P
> Kelly Buchberger (RW): 5G/5A/10P
> Chris Joseph (D): 3G/7A/10P
> Ken Linseman (C): 2G/8A/10P
> Craig Simpson (LW): 5G/3A/8P
> Adam Graves (C): 3G/5A/8P
> Charlie Huddy (D): 1G/7A/8P
> Steve Smith (D): 1G/7A/8P
> Dave Brown (RW): 4G/3A/7P
> Jeff Beukeboom (D): 2G/5A/7P
> Geoff Smith (D): 0G/7A/7P
> Craig MacTavish (C): 2G/3A/5P
> Anatoli Semenov (C): 0G/1A/1P
for the goalies:
> Grant Fuhr: 951 saves/1105 shots on goal = 86.1 save percentage/6.05 goals against average
> Bill Ranford: 899 saves/1051 shots on goal = 85.5 save percentage/6.17 goals against average
even though Dave Brown got ejected for kneeing, he again avoided suspension. Craig Simpson however wasn't as lucky, as not only did he get ejected for elbowing, but once again he's out for another two games because he's suspended for intent to injure.
because of Craig Simpson's two game suspension, Anatoli Semenov will be getting more run time, and the last time around, he scored 1 assist in 2 games. Let's hope Semenov can do even better for the next two games, and again, Semenov will be on the 4th line next to Adam Graves and Dave Brown, while Gelinas gets promoted to the 3rd line at LW next to Craig MacTavish and Kelly Buchberger.

Chris Joseph picked up his 16th point of the season, exceeding his expected output of 15 points from his stats with the 1994-95 Pittsburgh Penguins. He has surpassed his actual output from his 1994-95 season.

my next SimLeague Hockey season should be spent in Private Theme Leagues instead of Open Leagues. I'm planning on creating a Theme League where you can only play as late 1990s Bottom 6 non-playoff NHL teams (from 1996-97 through 1999-2000).
