It's not like the anime was ever terrible. I can admit to it being overrated, but the story and word were geinuenly intriguing. Plus, the writing was pretty decent, all things considered.

It's not right what happened to AOT. If Isayama wasn't a hack and just committed to ANR it could've been a gothic Randian masterpiece, but instead he had to fuck it all up and ruin his series to appeal to the lowest common denominator capeshit enjoyers.

It's even worse than that. Unironically; the domestic Japanese fanbase can be partially blamed for AoT's rapening; no doubt Eremika niggers played a part in why chapter 139 happened. Historia just wasn't popular in Nipland, and Yurikikes already designated her to lesbian hell. All that build up between Historia and Eren was completely thrown away because Mikasa was the franchise poster girl or whatever. It's so utterly unfair that it actually makes me mad (as faggy as that sounds). Isyama is not just a hack, but a fucking coward. It's because of him that AoT will now forever be seen as a mediocre flash in the pan/accidental hit. The only thing to save the series now is for some sort of Eva:rebuild situation to sweep up the mess he made. I hope he burns.

The only copes for an AoT fan now is to either pretend the manga ended on a cliffhanger (chapter 123), or continue to push AnR.
Well, I guess AoT3 looks alright (the graphics are ugly as sin though).

Well it's the only media that made me viscerally upset, almost physically sick, so I'm in the same boat geg. Part of what made it so bad, besides that it was just utterly incompetent nonsense, is that us chuds don't get anything, and for once it really seemed like we were going to get not just good entertainment, but genuine kino perfectly matching the societal zeitgeist of the moment. And to an extent I suppose we did, since the retcons and plotholes start so late that he'd already written an incredibly reactionary and right-wing story.

A dark and vengeful Randian hero, willing to do whatever it takes to secure his and his family's freedom in defiance of the entire world, obvious (accidental or not [ev&oe they're incredibly blatant]) allegories for rejecting the post-WWII mythos and white guilt, Eren only having his own will, fate, and possibly God to rely on as he fought against insurmountable odds, it was just so damn good. The part that hurts for me is that I know I'll never get to see something like this get made again.

To a degree, it makes me wonder how Isayama was able to get away with the messaging in AoT for so long. I sort of wonder if the Tucans got to him in some way through Kodan, hence the change in ending. Though that could just be me schizoing out. Either way, I find it hard to even see the ideals pushed through most of pre time-skip AoT to be purely accidental. I truly do think the guy was some incel chud who buckled under publisher pressure, monetary incentive, and pussy. Maybe it helped that a lot of people's first gut reaction to the Eldian twist was "dey jooz; it's a allegory for dah holocaust." That was probably intentional to an extent to mask the true messaging underneath.
Anyways, I doubt AoT will ever get a re-imagined ending, since that would probably mean adapting the original vision Isayama had in mind. If there's ever a live action hollywood remake or something (god forbid, the AoT movies were nigger aids), they might make the Eldians look more Jewish to obfuscate the sheer Aryan energy oozing off their culture. Grimmy.

Though, now that I'm thinking about it more; AoT might have been controlled opposition in some way. Hook in the chuds, then clip the story's wings at the last second.

Libtards are so used to having complete domination of the media that it's almost impossible for them to recognize a right-wing story with even the most tiny bit of subtly. The discourse around Angry Birds and The Incredibles (ugh…) shows that, in even with the most blatantly right-wing stories they can hardly notice it at all unless it's completely spelled out for them. Isayama only started to receive hit pieces in the news I believe when the Rumbling started, I could be wrong on that though.

HE WAS. He talked about it in interviews. He was basically an asocial freak with no skills or talent who dropped out of school to bet his entire future on the manga. If you go back to old interviews he just blatantly talks about it a ton (albeit not so much the chud aspect).

Hmm, I doubt that. For one, it's pretty common knowledge that Isayama talked a lot about how Muv Luv Alternative was a huge inspiration on the series and one of its biggest influences, and supposedly that series was made by the Japanese equivalent of a far-right dude and the aliens in it were stand-ins for Koreans or something. Also, all the interviews he gave lined up pretty well with what actually happened in the series. He even talked about not being sure about the ending a ton of times and flip-flopping on what it'd be. In that other AOT thread there's some maybe schizo old theories about his intentions and possible inspirations >>135163 but there's no real proof.

I don't think Isayama stole from stories, so much as AoT's story is pretty a-typical narratively. Part of what made it so popular is that, not only are the rules of the world easy to understand (until the very end), but that the structure of the narrative is incredibly cookie-cutter. Which I think works to it's benefit. So I wouldn't be surprised if he just landed on incredibly similar plot points and ideas. There's only so many ways you can write a fantasy survival story.
