This image says that this stuff is for "adult virgin men," but most of the people consuming this are teenagers, and I'm sure almost all of the adults started consuming it when they were teenagers as well. It's kind of disgusting to consider that so much of the jap media people consume exists solely to invent a woman for lonely teenagers to obsess over & fall in love with in place of a real relationship. I think anime is a sizable part of why inkwells online obsess so much over missing out on "teen love."

But most of the "western high school media" is also shit. Life is strange is the funniest inclusion.
