the art is amazing (created by miyazaki's own blessed hands). The story is also much better than the movie, if you've seen it. The movie covers maybe 1/8th of the full story.
It has some of the most memorable and heart wrenching character scenes and lovable characters.
it's quite dark for a miyazaki story. surprisingly, writing the story caused miyazaki to step away from marxism, as he realized monarchy is actually quite based
