if I'm remembering correctly owari 1 and 2 were the least bad, but starting there is very confusing, but id say LN > anime
kubikiri cycle is the other way around, because its the first LN nishio wrote, and probably his worst.
The anime is short and improves upon it quite a bit, and unlike monogatari it isnt a big time investment and still gives you a good impression of nishio
