People skip it because they're binge watching usually (not that there's anything wrong with that). Anime was made to be watched once per week or whenever the next episode aired on television, and the OP is a way to get you excited to see the next episode. It's different when you can just watch the episodes in quick succession, the effect of the intro wears off
