Try front mission. More realistic than most.

The quality of that film-to-bluray transfer is incredible.

OP here.
Watched Shin Mazinger z, what a banger! Sadly, DA JOOOOOOOS didnt make a second season.
I plan on watching BIG O next.
Where the fuck do I start with Getter robo? Should I just read the manga?

Patlabor has great animation. And it's a good recommendation for people who generally don't like mecha.

I second this.

How do you start watching mecha doe, I already watched NGE and Ideon

 118377[Quote]

>>118374
What do you mean "how"? Just download it like any other anime and play it. There's no special method to it, nor any special difficulties with watching mecha - it's just videos, you play them and watch the anime like any other type of anime.

Like this >>118290 post says, use anidb, the search there: https://anidb.net/search/anime and search for mecha, like this for example https://anidb.net/anime/?airdate.end=2003-%3F-%3F&airdate.start=1979-%3F-%3F&h=1&noalias=1&orderby.airdate=0.1&orderby.name=1.1&tag.2638=500 which shows results for animes containing mecha to varying extent, and shows such animes from between 1979 to 2002. I chose 1979 because the first Gundam series starts there which one might consider the birth of modern mecha; Gundam feels more modern and more normal than the earlier stuff (although I'm not much into Gundam so don't ask me about it) and I chose 2002 because roughly around that time anime started sucking ass (it says 2003 in the link but you'll only see results to 2002) and all the best mecha animes had already been made long ago before that.

That search was set up by going to https://anidb.net/search/anime and there first setting the year via "started between" "period start" and "period end", and clicking the plus-sign on "show/hide all" and in those options that appear there going to "mecha" (just Ctrl+F mecha - fastest way) and to the right at "ignore" selecting "star star plus" which instructs the search to show "animes featuring a lot of mecha, and animes that feature even more mecha", but not "only animes that are the most mecha-focused". To tweak that mecha-strength parameter, you can set it to "star star star" which will limit the search to animes focusing even more heavily on mecha and in contrast if you just put it at "+" then it will show all those animes BUT also show animes that just contain a little bit of mecha, animes that just feature something mecha-like but aren't really mecha animes, they'll be included then as well - so if you want to avoid that, that's what the * signs are for, add * or "star plus" "star star" or "star star plus" or "star star star" to narrow the search down to animes that are more mecha-focused.

(I had to write "star star" here or the text would get messed up due to Sharty's coding for special text)
