What's the point of making a massive game like this if you can't even create your own character? I don't want to play as "kliff" or whatever slop they force you to play as even if he does somewhat resemble gigachad

Probably Slop. But a technical gem by modern standards because it makes fun of the rest of the industry by having some effort put into optimization. The fact that I could play this game pretty well at 1440p on a 3080 really shows how much the rest of the industry literally is not trying, or is at worst colluding with Epic and Nvidia to push people towards subscription based computing.
