They look like shit, but then why are you even buying the latest big games. They all look identical, whether or not they are AI.
When it comes to indie games with their le retro nostalgerino graphics, it can be pulled off but there needs to be an actual direction with it. Theres plenty of good pixel games, and plenty of bad pixel games. The PS1 "style" is a bit stupid looking, tends to look worse than Doom because 2d generally ages a lot better than 3d, so a rotating sprite doesn't look half as raisin as a polygon mush character
