I was thinking of getting Stellaris for the sale, is it good or does it need mod life support to be fun? Also, should I buy or pirate the dlc? Ignore the family library thing.

Usually I do not condone pirating but this is an exception, not only they charge roughly the same for everything, but most of them have negative to mixed reviews

Haven't played it in a while, it's the easiest paradox gsg by far, if you have 2+ braincells you will always steamroll the ai
mostly fun if you like roleplaying as your nation/race

also yes dlc is mandatory, only buy the base game and get a dlc unlocker, or just pirate the whole thing
mods are nice but I mostly play without them these days, only use few mandatory QoL and visual ones
